Leadership

"The ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organizations of which they are members." Leadership is the ability of an individual to set rules for others and lead from the front. It is an attitude that influences the environment around us.

One of the objectives of the Federation is to develop our membership to lead from small committees to the upper echelons of the Federation. At a recent workshop sponsored by Southern Division, Shirley Foote, Past CFRW President gave this speech on Federation Leadership.

[Shirley Foote]Shirley Foote was elected NFRW 3rd vice president at the 33rd Biennial Convention in Nashville and assumed the position in January 2006.

Foote also has held the positions of treasurer and member-at-large and has served on the Nominating Committee and the Member Review and Reform Committee. At the state level, Foote served as president of the California FRW, vice president of the Central CFRW, president and second vice president of the Central Division of CFRW, and as president of two local clubs.

In addition to working on many political campaigns, Foote has served as director of the Palm Springs Republican Assembly and on the Research and Restructure Committee for the California Republican Party.

Foote is a graduate of the American College of Law and is a published author of short stories and poetry. She is the previous owner of a mortgage company, was appointed Palm Springs Rent Review Commissioner by Mayor Sonny Bono, was the founding president of Friends of the Torrance Library, and is the recipient of several service awards. Foote and her late husband have three children and five grandchildren.

[Joy Stewart]Joy Stewart's Republican resume is extensive. Joy joined the Bakersfield Republican Women Federated and over the years held numerous leadership positions in the local and statewide organization culminating in her service as President of CFRW. Joy has also held numerous positions, local and statewide, in a leadership capacity with numerous campaigns and as a member of the Kern County Central Committee. In her "spare time" she runs several family businesses. Joy is a true inspiration to volunteers here at home and throughout the state.

[Lois Godfrey]

Lois Godfrey (pictured at right) has been a mentor to all at every level of the FRW. She continues to share her expertise with anyone who asks and often takes on tasks that no one else wishes to. She has been involved at all levels of the Federation - local, county, division, state and national. Take a look at her resume.
